About the HIV positive chef Tony
I am HIV+ and have been that way since 2012 that’s when I got diagnosed, I made a very bad decision, but it is what it is.
Eight years ago, February 2nd 2014 I had eight mini strokes, I was not scarred, I was frustrated because I can’t speak, what I had was expressive aphasia and I was in the hospital for eight miserable days, I hate hospital food.
People with Broca aphasia, sometimes called an expressive aphasia, for example, may eliminate the words “and” and “the” from their language, and speak in short, but meaningful, sentences. They usually can understand some speech of others. Because the damage is in the front part of the brain, is also important for motor movements, people with Broca’s aphasia often have right-sided weakness or paralysis of the arm and leg.
Thank God again I recovered 100% and my speech is great and my body is very strong, no weakness at all.
I love food and preparing it as well, I moved to San Francisco in 1999 to aspire to be a professional chef, but I have another passion as well, web development and that is what I chose.
I remember in the early 80’s and in the 90’s if were HIV+ that’s a death sentence but not anymore, now it’s a managed disease thank God for those pills, without it, you are going to die in three months on upwards to a year.
Even so I do web development full stack mind you, I still love preparing food and it looks good and the taste is excellent every time.
I am on what’s called the Ketogenic way of eating it is this a term for a low-carb diet (like the Atkins diet). The idea is for you to get more calories from protein and fat and less from carbohydrates. You cut back most on the carbs that are easy to digest, like sugar, soda, pastries, and white bread.
This what I eat on a daily basis:
Ketogenic way of eating include fish and seafood and sardines, meat and poultry, non-starchy vegetables like bell peppers, cabbage red or green, and zucchini, avocados, berries, nuts and seeds, eggs, high-fat dairy products, extra virgin olive oil, coconut oil un-refined virgin organic, grass-fed butter, and cacao powder or at least 70% cacao in bars just to name a few.
To achieve excellent health I work out four to five days a week and stretch before and during my work out and when the weather is comfortable, fifty five degrees on up I do my bike rides. I bike one mile each day.
My sleep schedule is this, I wake up in the morning 5:30 am and at night I go to sleep between 9:30 to 10:30 pm, sleep is very important to the human body, when you sleep, your body is repairing itself for the next day, with out it, the body and mind cannot function optimally.
Sleep deprivation is when you don’t get the sleep you need, and it is It’s estimated to affect around one-third of American adults, a problem that has only worsened in recent years.
Lack of sleep directly affects how we think and feel. While the short-term impacts are more noticeable, chronic sleep deprivation can heighten the long-term risk of physical and mental health problems.
Everybody has stress including me, sometimes a little or a lot, what makes the difference is how to manage stress.
Stress management is a wide spectrum of techniques and psychotherapies aimed at controlling a person’s level of stress, especially chronic stress, usually for the purpose of improving everyday functioning. Stress produces numerous physical and mental symptoms which vary according to each individual’s situational factors. These can include a decline in physical health, such as headaches, chest pain, fatigue, and sleep problems, as well as depression. The process of stress management is named as one of the keys to a happy and successful life in modern society. Life often delivers numerous demands that can be difficult to handle, but stress management provides a number of ways to manage anxiety and maintain overall well-being
Millions of people want to take care of their skin that they live in, they put on their skin creams, moisturizers, cleaners, facemasks, anti-wrinkle and anti-aging, I don’t do any of this, I put on my whole body after a shower or bath, coconut oil unrefined organic virgin and I eat very well, drink water sometimes with the pink salt, get 7-8 hours of rest, and for bathing or shower I use the most un-expensive shampoo or I call it body wash, suave, been doing that for 30 years and counting.
Of course manage your stress, if you smoke, quite, I did five years ago, best decision in my life after 35 years as a smoker.
If your an alcoholic get your self into treatment, the same go’s for if you’re hooked on illegal drugs.
Smoking makes your skin look older and contributes to wrinkles. Smoking narrows the tiny blood vessels in the outermost layers of skin, which decreases blood flow and makes skin paler. This also depletes the skin of oxygen and nutrients that are important to skin health.
Alcohol causes your body and skin to lose fluid (dehydrate). Dry skin wrinkles more quickly and can look dull and grey. Alcohol’s diuretic (water-loss) effect also causes you to lose vitamins and nutrients. For example, vitamin A.
Drug abuse can wreak havoc on many of the body’s organs. Alcohol abuse puts tremendous strain on the liver, cocaine can significantly stress the heart, and heroin can damage the kidneys. That damage can remain hidden for many years since it is impossible to see the harm without sophisticated medical imaging systems.
